Clinic website design: how we turned two sites into one

The Chestnut Clinic is a traditional Japanese therapy clinic and practitioner school in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire. It had two websites. We combined them into one, chestnutclinic.co.uk, and we also help with its newsletter, print and admin. Below is how the new site came together, and what else we do for the clinic.

The starting point: two websites for one clinic

The clinic and its teaching school, The Chestnut Centre, each had their own site, and both were built with Wix.

  • thechestnutclinic.co.uk was the clinic site. The latest archived copy of that address is from 27 January 2022 (Wayback Machine), so it may not match the site just before the refresh. In that copy, the address loads the clinic's pages from a second domain, thechestnutclinic.net, inside a frame. The menu lists Home, Our Team, Therapies, Consultations, Contact, Courses and Wall of Fame.
  • japaneseintegratedmedicine.com was the school site. The archived copy from 19 April 2026 has its own menu: Home, History, Team, Courses, Practitioners, Membership and Contact, plus a member log-in.

A few details stood out in the archived pages. Prices sat on the clinic's Consultations page. The register of practitioners was a list of regional links on the school site. The clinic's contact page gave the address, phone number and an enquiry form. And anyone moving between treatments, courses and the register had to move between two websites.

What came across and what changed

We call this a refresh because the clinic's existing content came across from both old sites: treatments, team, courses, history, the register and the price information. The structure around that content was rebuilt from scratch. If you are weighing up the same choice for your own site, our guide on whether to refresh or rebuild goes through it.

The new site has eight pages: Home, Treatments, Prices & Booking, Our Team, Courses & Training, Find a Practitioner, About and Contact. Clinic and school now sit side by side, so a patient and a student see the same clinic.

The aim was to present the clinic in a calm, modern way and explain the treatments and prices clearly.

Clinic website design and content

We chose a deep green and warm terracotta palette, an elegant serif for headings and a clean sans-serif for reading, with small Japanese touches in the details.

The main challenge was the amount of content: 16 therapies, a long history and a teaching school alongside the clinic. We broke everything into clear sections and cards that are easy to scan. Price information moved to its own Prices & Booking page, which explains that one price covers the whole session, whichever therapies it includes. The About page now holds the history and the Wall of Fame, which had been a separate page.

Features built around phone bookings

A good clinic website makes it easy to find a treatment and get in touch. With every booking taken by phone, this is what we set up for the clinic:

  • A call button in the header of every page, with the opening hours next to each booking prompt.
  • A searchable register of around 40 practitioners across the UK and Europe, with filters for role, country and region, a map and a Near me option. It replaces the old list of regional links.
  • A map with directions on the Contact page.
  • A "Did you know?" slider of facts about Japanese medicine on the home page.
  • Pages designed to work on a phone as well as a computer.

The site has an SEO-ready setup: each page has its own title and description, and there is a sitemap. That helps search engines read the site, but nobody can promise where a site will appear in search results, and we don't. Our guide to what every small business website needs covers the same basics in more detail.

The work beyond the website

Alongside the website, we help the clinic with day-to-day work. That work continues today. Where we offer a related service, it is linked:

Because one studio handles these jobs, the clinic has a single point of contact. When a price or an opening time changes, the website, the price list and the Google Business Profile are updated together.

Planning your own clinic website

Planning a clinic website of your own? It helps to gather your wording, photos and prices before work starts. Our guide on what to send your web designer before you start goes through it.
